DIE GEBURT DER NATION
("The Birth of a Nation")

English and German Version

1. English Version

Titel (in German): THE BIRTH OF THE NATION

Titel (in German): MOROCCO 1911

Clouds hung low above the horizon, a civilisation collapsed.

Jim, Joe, Jack, Naomi and Fred met on the hill which covered the ruins of ancient Carthage.

Jim was elected first president of the republic, Joe became his deputy. Fred assumed the ministery of cultural affairs and Jack was responsible for the education of the children. Naomi took hold of the ministry of science.

And the republic florishes. With hope they load the future. The birth of a child is cause for great joy.

And then Jim called himself Nadine and refused to work in the fields.

Next morning Joe and Nadine left Cathage.

They founded a competetive civilisation.
(in German:) Their lives florished in abundance.
The hissing of a white flag constituted the height of their culture.

In Cathage Naomi made a discovery. She had science be forbidden.

Nadine believes in her luck, but her thoughts penetrate into the future.
(in German:) Joe begins to despair.

Naomi is elected president. Jim is her deputy. Jack, who loves Naomi, is occupied with the child.

The state slips into a heavy crisis. The kindergarten, which Jack has built, is destroyed, and Naomi discharged as president. Jack becomes president.

His marriage with Naomi and Nadine is celebrated. In the morning the found their deserved sleep.

And Joe returns home too, but the misunderstandings between them grew. Joe traces the problem. He supports the abolishment of the old language. Jack laughs at him.

They run out of water. He who laughs last, laughs best.

And without any decisions being made, they start to forget their old language. Only a few words survive: Love, desire, despair and the longing for eternity. For a while they communicate only in these words. Ans then with vowels of these words.

And then they were silent. A new life has begun to begin.

Kommentar:
